What's the Buy-All incentive?

Buy-All Incentive

Under this incentive Eversource purchases all the energy and Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) generated by a solar project. The solar project exports all its energy to Eversource's electric grid and all Net Excess Generation will be compensated at the Total Incentive Payment Rate. The Total Incentive Payment Rates are established by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) through a regulatory process and will be identified in the Statement of Qualification issued to the project. The Total Incentive Payment Rate, once established for a project, will be fixed for the life of the 20-year project.

The system owner may determine how the Total Incentive Payment will be divided between two compensation options:

  • A monetary on-bill credit that is applied to the customer's Eversource billing account, and/or
  • A direct payment provided to a Payment Beneficiary*

Customers participating in the buy-all incentive separately purchase all electricity they consume from Eversource at the current retail rate.  The portion of the Total Incentive Payment that is provided as an on-bill credit offsets the cost of the customer's purchases on their electric bill.

*Note that the Payment Beneficiary cannot be the customer
