How does Eversource calculate the max usage for a project?

Per the program rules, single-family projects must be sized such that the solar PV system’s expected annual production does not exceed the customer's highest annual electric consumption over the past 5 years by more than 5%.  For multi-family properties between 2-4 units, the system may be sized to the combined load of up to 4 billing accounts associated with the premise.

Customers may size their system to exceed their annual electric consumption if they plan to add electric vehicles (up to two) or a whole-home heat pump.  Installers must indicate in the project application whether the Customer intends to size the system to exceed their existing annual load during the application process and must indicate which technologies the customer intends to purchase/install.
