The SMART application, which is typically submitted by solar installers on the customer’s behalf, occurs in two steps. The application can be submitted once a contract for the project is signed. Once both the SMART application is approved and the system is installed & interconnected, the installer submits a Claim Request. Once the Claim is approved a project can begin receiving incentives.
